Investors are not replying to my pitch deck email. What should I do?
Updated October 30, 2026
Short answer
When nobody replies to the first email, the problem is usually before the deck: the wrong funds, the wrong person at the fund, or an opening that does not say why this fund should care now. Fix who you write to and your first three lines before you redo the deck.
The usual reasons nobody replies
The fund does not do your stage or niche now
The website says one thing, the last year of deals says another. Go by the deals.
The wrong person, or a general inbox
Write to the partner who led deals like yours. An info@ address rarely answers.
The opening gives no reason to read on
Nothing in the first two lines says why this fund, or why now. No deal of theirs that is close to yours, no number of yours.
A deck attached by a stranger
Many investors read on a phone. A link and three lines in the email are easier to open than a heavy attachment.
What to do next
- Cut your list to funds that backed a round at your stage, in your niche, in the last 12 to 18 months.
- At each fund, find the partner who led those deals, and their own route: email, LinkedIn or X.
- Open with their deal that is closest to yours, then one number of yours. The deck goes in as a link at the end.
- Follow up once, a week later, with something new.
Hi Sara, you led the seed in [their company closest to yours] last spring, so you'll get what we do quickly: we cut clinic no-shows by a third, and 42 clinics pay us. We're raising a $1.5M seed. Deck: [link]
