An investor replied to my LinkedIn message. What does it mean?

    Updated October 30, 2026

    Short answer

A reply is a good start, but read what they asked for. “Send me the deck” is curiosity. A question about your numbers, or times to talk, is interest. Answer within a day and move the conversation to a call or to email.

What each kind of reply means

    • “Send me the deck”

They will screen it in a few minutes. Send a link with three lines: what you do, your best number, the round.

    • “Happy to chat”, with times or a calendar link

A real next step. Book the first slot you can make.

    • A question about traction or who is leading

They are screening you. Answer with numbers, right there in the thread.

    • “Not for us, but try...”

A no that comes with a name. Write to that person and say who sent you.

    • Only a like or an emoji

Not a reply. Treat it as no answer yet.

    What to do next

    1. Answer within a day, while they still remember your message.
    2. Give them what they asked for and nothing more. On LinkedIn, a few lines is plenty.
    3. Suggest the next step yourself: a 20-minute call, or the deck by email.
Example · Answering “send me the deck”
Here it is: [link]. In short: we help clinics cut no-shows, 42 clinics pay us, $18K MRR, raising a $1.5M seed. Would a 20-minute call next week work?
